Adult social tennis is held on Tuesdays and Saturdays from 10-12.
American tournaments are held about three times a year.
The rules: Each “set” comprises 5 games. Your score is the number of games your side won. After each set, the winning “lady” moves to the adjacent court in the direction of the bridle path. The winning “man” moves in the opposite direction. The losing pair split up and move to opposite sides of the court. Winning man and losing lady play together, as do winning lady and losing man. Toss for choice of side or service for the first set. In subsequent sets the losing man’s side serves and chooses side. Sudden death on second deuce with receiving side choosing who receives.
We attempt to have six “sets” of five games. Mark your scores on the sheet you are given after each set and total it up at the end. If you have a game “out”, score yourself 3 points.
Ideally we need 8 men and 8 women to take part. If there are more men than women, the extra men have to become honorary women and vice versa.
These tournaments are followed by lunch in the clubhouse whereby everyone brings something to eat or drink.
